Job Summary:
The PKD Therapeutics and Translational Biology Laboratory at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus is seeking a highly motivated Research Services Laboratory Sciences Professional to join our growing team focused on developing innovative therapies for autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD). Our research combines molecular biology, genetics, cell biology, and translational medicine to uncover disease mechanisms and develop mutation-agnostic therapeutic strategies, including approaches targeting protein folding, proteostasis, RNA therapeutics, and gene editing.
In this role, you will work closely with physician-scientists and basic researchers in a collaborative environment and gain hands-on experience with state-of-the-art laboratory techniques, including mammalian cell culture, molecular cloning, CRISPR-based technologies, protein biochemistry, microscopy, mouse models, and translational preclinical research. You will contribute to projects spanning from fundamental mechanistic studies to the development of therapies with the potential to enter clinical trials.
This position offers an outstanding opportunity to participate in a rapidly expanding research program dedicated to translating basic discoveries into new treatments for patients with ADPKD. You will receive mentorship in experimental design, data analysis, scientific communication, and responsible conduct of research while working within the Division of Renal Diseases and Hypertension at the University of Colorado-one of the nation's leading academic nephrology programs with access to exceptional core facilities and a vibrant translational research environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with and support Principal Investigators and other stakeholders with laboratory and research functions
- Perform experiments and analyze research data using standard molecular and cellular biology techniques
- Support analytical testing processes including sample preparation, preservation, and documentation of results
- Independently develop and implement new or modified laboratory techniques required for research projects
- Review, complete, and process laboratory logs, documents, databases, and related materials and information
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and laboratory safety protocols.
Work Location:
Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, Colorado.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Entry Level:
- Bachelor's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics or related field.
Intermediate Level:
- Bachelor's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics or related field.
- One (1) year professional level research experience.
- A combination of education and related technical/military/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.
- An advanced degree (Masters or PhD) may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis if the degree is in a field of study directly related to the work assignment.
- A combination of education and related technical/military/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics or related field.
- Two (2) years of experience in an experimental or wet laboratory.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of basic laboratory techniques including safety procedures and techniques.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.

- Outstanding customer service skills.
- Knowledge of basic human anatomy, physiology, medical terminology.
- Ability to interpret and master complex research protocol information.

Anticipated Pay Range:
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as:
- Entry Level: $47,811 - $55,939
- Intermediate Level: $52,030 - $60,875
The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
